How To Best Place Adsense Ads

Posted on May 22, 2009 by admin

I have always been impressed by those that could earn thousands of dollars through adsense. To be honest time and again I have struggled to increase my adsense earnings but to no avail. I have adopted all kind of strategies in order to increase traffic to my site but my earnings seem to remain low. Then I figured out that traffic was only one part of the equation. Your adsense placements also matters a lot in your earnings.

There is a common misconception that adsense earnings are related solely to the amount of traffic that you get. But this is not the truth. You can have a lot of traffic without anyone clicking on your ads because they are placed in some awkward position. What I want to say is that the placement of the ads on the website also matters a lot just as the amount of traffic that you get. Good ads placements will ultimately lead to a higher click-through rate (CTR) thus improve your adsense earnings. Now you might be asking how to do this? Hereafter you will find three tips that can help you to improve your earnings

First of all you will have to choose the best ad placement on your site. For instance some people prefer to put their ads just above the main content and below the top navigation bar. This means that your ads will be approximately in the centre of the page. This is also the placement that is advised by Google. Other people prefer to place their ads just below the main content. In this way it will appear as if the ads are an extension of the main article.

Google adsense provide a wide variety of ads and it is up to you to choose the one that suits your site. For instance a Skyscraper can do well in the right sidebar of your blogs and can significantly improve your CTR. Skyscraper can do well in the right sidebar of your blogs and can significantly improve your CTR. You should not be afraid to test and implement new things in order to find out what work best for your site.

Tracking is also important. You should make the most of the channel features of Google adsense in order to track your earnings. This will allow you to try and test new placements and style for increase earning. Many webmasters simply ignore this and keep losing a substantial amount of money. Do not rely on other sources to determine the best ads placement. Make your own experiment to find out the most profitable places on your site.

Adsense is indeed a great way to earn money on the Internet. I for one can say that all the adsense gurus are right. There is real money in it. But you should not rely only on traffic to increase your earnings. It is also important that you work on your ads placements in order to increase your CTR.

Good tips… I’ve never had much success with adsense but i’m currently doing a similar test to see what results I get..

I’ll also toss this in.. Since most of my sites are niche sites that use phpBay Pro (you can read about on my blog) and I get commission from Ebay.. I would rather not even have adsense because the adsense only gives me a few cents per click where as the Ebay commissions can be several bucks! So it makes more sense to send those people to Ebay rather than having them click on an adsense ad!

Adsense placement is not the only way to improve CTR, it is also a question of relevancy. My way of adsense optimization is to supplement adsense with in text ads. I use the combination of adsense and Infolinks since I find it to be the highest paying solution.
