Marketing Your Store On The Internet
Posted on July 13, 2009 by
Small businesses typically do not have a large budget for advertising, and thus fail to get some customers because they are not as well known as some of the bigger businesses. For example, if you have a small-tiny shoe store that sells second-tier comfortable sandals brands, you might be struggling right now in the bad economy since you are fighting for business against big companies and online stores. However, you can use the internet to your advantage and get more advertising for the same money, or less, than it costs now. You could also use the internet to sell even more of your products.
You don’t have to spend all of your money on old school-antiquated advertising methods like billboards and radio and TV advertising. Using the advertising available for little-small or no cost on the internet for small businesses, you can really tell more people about your Keen shoes business. Most people tend to use the internet for looking up stuff they need, including names, addresses, and phone numbers for places they would like to visit. You can set up a website and get yourself listed on online yellow pages directories as a start to your internet advertising campaign.
Since comfort sandals and other similar brands are not as popular, you might not be doing as much business as you like in your physical shoe store. You could increase the amount of business that you do if you also permit people to order the shoes you sell on the internet and ship them to them. That opens up your market to people all over the world rather than just the people in the surrounding communities, so you have the potential for a lot more sales, which could mean the difference between being able to keep your store open and closing down.
Some small businesses have had to shut down their actual stores, but have moved to selling their products on the internet. This allows them to keep their business and really cuts down on the cost since you no longer must have as many employees and you don’t have to pay rent for a store location. You can place your business warehouse in an cheap area and save a great deal of money. You might even be able to make more money selling your Keen shoes only on the internet than selling them through a store since-because there is a greater profit margin in this kind of sale. This is why so many companies, including small businesses, are going online.

Hello fas,
I believe that just about every business has something to gain from having an online prescience. Even grocery stores could make good use out of Twitter and such to announce sales or run specials. In this day and age, omitting the internet is like omitting the phone book a few decades ago. It’s just such a large piece of the puzzle.
The internet, however, is only a tool. You must be able to reach your target audience, one way or another. Or better yet, make it easy for your target audience to discover you! Then you can start doing business with them.
